NYS Department of Health requires school districts to conduct Lead Testing in School Drinking Water. Initial tests were conducted during the week of February 8, 2021, Stohl Environmental performed water sampling on 332 fixtures throughout the District. Twenty-one (21) fixtures were determined to be reportable and have lead levels in excess of 15 ppb (parts per billion) and therefore required additional attention. Remediation plan has been implemented to address fixtures in excess of 15 ppb as prescribed by New York State Department of Health, all were labeled as unsafe for drinking, maintenance is being performed including replacement or repairs of existing fixtures.
As of November 16, 2021, Helmer Nature Center has been added to the test bringing the total to 339 fixtures throughout the District tested. Three (3) fixtures have lead levels in excess of 15 ppb (parts per billion). One fixture will be removed from service and two fixtures will have point of use filters installed.
