Opioid forum Monday;Wellness updates throughout October

The Opioid Epidemic is the focus of an open community forum at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave. Many groups, including our school district, led by Substance Abuse Prevention Counselor/Youth Intervention Specialist Lindsay Snyder, are sponsoring this discussion on knowing more about and preventing opioid abuse. Speakers include:

  • Sandra Doorley, Monroe County District Attorney
  • Dr. Michael Mendoza, County Public Health Commissioner
  • Deputy Michael Favata, Sheriff’s office, Opioid Task Force
  • Virginia Nacy, Drug-Free Irondequoit
  • Robert Zerby, Medical Examiner’s office, Chief Medical Investigator

Other speakers include Assistant County Executive Michael Molinari and Dr. Joe Carbone, President of the County Legislature. The event also starts Wellness Month in the West Irondequoit Central School District. Look for daily updates on our Facebook page by Snyder on small ways to improve your mind and body. Snyder is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor with experience working in mental health treatment, substance use treatment and school-based prevention. She joined the West Irondequoit in April 2017. An Irondequoit High School graduate, she has two children who attend WICSD schools.
