The 2018-19 school year starts next week and students and parents will notice a few changes to enhance safety on the streets, in the parking lots and upon entry into the buildings at West Irondequoit schools.

On July 1, the Town of Irondequoit introduced new speed limits that impact some streets around our schools. That includes a new 20 mph limit on streets during school hours.

In August, six new speed “bumps” were added to four different parking lots:
     • Two in front of Irondequoit High School.
     • Two in front of Dake Junior High School.
     • One in front of Listwood Elementary.
     • One at the new Evans & McGraw Learning Center at 45 Cooper Road.
Last spring, the District improved safety for entry into buildings district wide and a new traffic pattern at Dake will be implemented. That will help traffic flow and enhance safety during drop-off and pick-up of students. Look for more information next week on those changes at Dake.
