IHS Special Olympians carry torch!

IHS Special Olympians cheered with torch!
Posted on 05/23/2019
Thirteen Irondequoit High School Special Olympians carried a torch Thursday as part of the Irondequoit Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run. Trailed by Irondequoit Police officers, who ran the route, they started at Helmer Nature Center, went up List Avenue and past Listwood elementary and our District Office. Aided by 20 "helpers," they continued in front of Irondequoit High School and past Dake Junior High before finishing with a lap around our track. The students were cheered all the way. Cheered on by children smaller than them and cheered on by peers. They were high-fived by faculty members and by administrators. It goes without saying: It was a good day in West Irondequoit!
Thank you IPD and NYS Police for the special moment and the memory for those kids -- the rest of us, too.
