IHS makes Newsweek's STEM rankings
Posted on 12/02/2019
Newsweek has ranked Irondequoit High School as one of the top STEM high schools in the nation. The magazine partnered with STEM.org to rank the top 5,000 schools out of 30,000 nationwide in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). IHS was 2,472nd, which puts it in the top 8.2 percent nationally

“We found schools in every region of the country that offer skilled teachers who keep up with developments in these fields and who create dynamic learning environments to engage their students,” the magazine states.

STEM.org is the longest continually-operating, privately-held STEM education research and credentialing organization in America. Schools were ranked from STEM.org Educational Research™ (SER) using a scoring logic that accounts for a broad set of quantitative and qualitative data inputs collected from the second quarter of 2015 through the third quarter of 2019. Additional factors, including affluence and median household income, were taken into consideration, STEM says.
