TIES (Together Including Every Student)

TIES (Together Including Every Student)

TIES gives participants and volunteers the opportunity to develop:

  • Leisure skills

  • Community and school connections

  • Friendships

Ties Together Including Every Student

Participants are young people with developmental disabilities in grades 3 through age 21, They will have the  opportunity to join extracurricular, community, and recreational activities of their choice with support from trained student volunteers. Participants will gain by having increased social interaction within the school and community, increased age appropriate independence, and the opportunity to pursue a specific interest, sport or hobby that may develop into a lifelong leisure activity. Most important, our goal is for participants and volunteers to have FUN with peers in an adult supervised setting.

Volunteers are students in grades 8th-12th who learn how to support participants according to their individual needs through our TIES training program.  The TIES volunteer will gain a deeper understanding of diversity, make new friendships, and have FUN!
