Rogers School roof

We wanted to give you information about the work scheduled to begin in October at Rogers Middle School, which will entail replacing part of the roof by Elmer W. Davis Roofing and Campus Construction.

The first step is an abatement. The majority of the abatement entails removing hazardous material due to pigeons nesting in an isolated area. In addition, a minimal amount of asbestos must be removed. The only abatement being done is to the exterior of the building and there is no airborne danger. None of the work is above any classrooms. It will be done above the Rogers mechanical room and gymnasium.

Please note: There is no scheduled work for Southlawn School, which is connected to Rogers.

As per NYS Department of Environmental Conservation regulations for abatement, signs will be posted on all building entrances to Rogers and Southlawn School 10 days prior to work beginning. Certified abatement contractors will handle the work and follow all DEC regulations, including regular air monitoring as a precaution. Depending on the weather, the project is expected to be completed in mid-November. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we make necessary repairs to our schools.
