Kindergarten Orientation

The West Irondequoit Central School District offers full-day kindergarten. Students are eligible for kindergarten in September 2024 if they will be 5 years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2024.

Kindergarten plays a vital role as the first step in a successful school experience.  Our kindergarten program is developmental in nature, which means we recognize individual differences in children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.  Taking those differences into account, we plan a program that helps children develop skills through exploration in key content areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, and the arts. Our emphasis is on developing appropriate social skills.

So that you can learn more about our kindergarten program, we have scheduled orientation meetings. Building principals and kindergarten teachers will describe the kindergarten program, and answer any questions you may have. Please note that this orientation is a parent/guardian only event.
